Opposing genocide is the moral duty of our time.

Yet Palestine Action activists have been held in prison for over a year without trial. Six are now on hunger strike.

Detaining peaceful protesters under counter-terror powers is indefensible. This is political imprisonment in all but name.

Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

if capitalism truly made us free, there would be a bread making store similar to the self wash dog groom place, where someone else has all the ingredients and space and tools and i just walk in and leave with the softest nicest smelling treat

i feel like my mom must have been sitting on the ledge of the overton window when she birthed me out of it, living in this country
I was always middle of the road in the UK in the 90s before coming here.

My fellow Americans don't really know what that means.

Middle of the road European/UK politics puts me to the left of Mamdani.

That's how skewed and dysfunctional politics is here.

I just received my food delivery that I was able to purchase because I RECEIVED my SNAP benefits today. I sobbed. I didn't expect that reaction. I cried for the relief of having access to food but it was ALSO for the 42M under so much stress and for the MILLIONS who have NOT received their benefits.

I cannot emphasize enough how much Zohran Mamdani's campaign was very much about a platform focused on accountability, but also about having fun, fostering genuine connections with its citizens, and reminding people why they moved to New York City and should still want to live there

One of my friends who is visiting lives in Albany Park in Chicago and listening to her talk about what’s been going on and watching her cry and feel helpless…

She was a union organizer. She’s used to organizing in less than ideal conditions. She’s not brand new.

She’s horrified and traumatized.

Another excerpt from Read This When Things Fall Apart: Letters to Activists in Crisis. Red Schulte’s letter speaks to those organizing outside the law—a place more people of conscience will find themselves as authoritarianism tightens its grip.

Don't talk to the New York Times about trans issues. They will betray your trust and use your story to undermine access to care. That's exactly what Azeen Ghorayshi did with families of trans kids in Missouri.
heads up to anyone who holds trans kids near: amy harmon from the nyt is searching for and having a hard time finding people to interview to find out exactly what trans kids are doing when their care is limited or cut off, and for purposes of community safety, please shut the fuck up around her.

Bizarre to have medical/public health colleagues who cut me off and called me an antisemite for naming a genocide in October/November 2023 now—when this reality is no longer remotely deniable—now want to act like we’re good again and nothing happened.

Still thinking about Zohran’s full-throated defense of immigration and how long i’ve waited for it. No bullshit about border security or “legal” immigrants but just unabashed support for immigrants. How many people feel so much more seen today? I know I do. 1/

How do we know they were "posing" as ICE agents as opposed to just ICE agents committing crimes––something we're seeing captured on video on a daily basis?

you win by honest organizing
I just watched a mayor-elect in my state defy an authoritarian at the height of his institutional power—with Congress and the court behind him.

I watched him deliver a full-throated defense of transgender Americans and immigrants and declare in no uncertain terms that he is a democratic socialist.
