Time has not been kind to Rogue One (in 2017 people were just in thrall to New Star Wars) and Andor’s incredible success has only made its seams and issues more obvious and difficult to move past. The film is a total mess and its production issues are obvious when watching.
rogue one is bad folks. i have believed this since i saw it in theaters and no subsequent rewatch has changed my mind. basically a chop job until the final sequence, which is good (for star wars)

Might have something to do with the violent oppression of student protests in 2023-2024
My @nytimes.com op-ed: The Boomers Are Protesting Trump. Where Is Gen Z? www.nytimes.com/2025/11/24/o... (gift link)

The key point: "The absence of young people from conventional protests is both a problem and a warning."

1,000%, often before a single semester was over!
when I was in law school everyone knew that joining the federalist society was like getting tsa precheck for a clerkship
I’m a law prof & a YLS grad and anyone familiar w elite law schools knows it is beyond laughable to describe these places as radicalism hotbeds. Cruz knows this, as does JD Vance. But they assume that their marks are too unsophisticated to know it too. It’s condescending as hell.

Ah yes. Harvard Law School in the early 1990s, well known for its Communist professors.

Makes sense, the Sonic films are some of the most under discussed box office successes of the decade

These people are shameless liars who *will* attempt to lie their way out of the horrific crimes they’ve enabled in the first part of this decade. They are betting on short memories and long lives.

I know I am contributing to the problem but we should really all just ignore her; she blew her life up in violation of all professional ethics and it’s embarrassing that we’re all even getting mad at her. Just boycott Vanity Fair and move on
Vanity Fair's West Coast Editor Olivia Nuzzi was a star political correspondent until scandal led her into exile—and to a California up in flames.

In an excerpt from her book, ‘American Canto,’ she takes stock of scorched earth.

Look, I know this weaponization of male academic interest is the oldest story in the book, but it’s just so, so pernicious. It’s awful to the women directly involved, but it’s also awful to *all* women in the academy, who have to live in its shadow all the time.

I don’t think there has been a Democratic president since 1900 who did not have their signature policy interfered with by the Supreme Court in some way
Bessent on tariffs: "This is one of President Trump's signature policies, and traditionally the Supreme Court does not interfere with a president's signature policy."
November 16, 2025 at 6:28 PM
A good point, but also relevant is that these people have massive gaping holes of meaning in their lives; now that they’ve “won,” the only enemies left are themselves
morbidly sociologically curious about whether there's a relationship between this and the clustering of right wingers on Truth Social + exodus of libs and the left from Twitter, etc
“.. It's still overwhelmingly pro-Trump — but less relevant .. These days, MAGA can spend more time eating its own than feasting on liberals or establishment Republicans.”

In politics the most valuable thing you can have is a wedge issue to hammer your opponents with, as Gaza showed in 2024
made a similar point on the opinions podcast this week in response to the idea that epstein is a dead end. not only are actual voters interested in this but it divides the gop and puts pressure on the president. it would be political malpractice to treat it as a sideshow
The usual suspects are telling Dems that Epstein won’t win elections, get back to “affordability” and I think my head might explode. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...

Kind of funny how Mnuchin’s COVID check idea is Trump’s only play now. Tariffs: COVID check. His healthcare plan? Yep, that’s a check too. Won’t be long before he gets to UBI.
Trump's Never Surrender PAC is sending out more donor appeals that float a "tariff rebate check"

I don’t think this is true tbh, seems unlikely that undocumented people are out here buying up houses
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Kind of odd that Republicans are openly using state power to suppress the exposure of a pedophile ring involving the president and there are no calls for impeachment or resignation by Democrats
