This week, a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from withholding critical grant dollars from Saint Paul and 10 other jurisdictions. The court affirmed what we’ve always known: a president cannot hold hostage funding to force compliance with a political agenda.

The time for inaction is over. We are moving forward in Saint Paul with decisive action to prevent gun violence. Minnesotans support the common sense protections proposed in our ordinance—state law blocks them. The moment preemption is lifted, Saint Paul will be ready.
