Energy is Power and Oil is War: 'Strikingly, I find that between one-quarter and one-half of interstate wars since the beginning of the modern oil age in 1973 are connected to one or more of these oil-related causal mechanisms. No other commodity has this kind of impact on international security.'

[F]or Aristotle, all the investigations he explicitly assigns to ontology are interconnected and at the same time concern the conceptual apparatus necessary for making Reality intelligible and the structure Reality must possess in order that it may be talked about.—Lambertus M. de Rijk (2002).

If I am right, melancholy is inseparable from Virgil's poetic temperament. The Orpheus story anticipates the melancholy of the Aeneid, the epic of suffering, loss and sacrifice.—Magda El-Nowieemy, "Alexandria versus Rome in the Aristaeus of Virgil (Georg. IV. 315-558)" at

[C]onsciousness gives meaning to existence ... In this sense, we participate in a process whereby the universe observes itself ... Consciousness and matter are intertwined in mind. Through the evolution of matter, consciousness is given *form*. —Max Velmans. This sounds Aristotelian and Santayanian.

This is the difference between Radical Enlightenment and Socialism: that without educating the majority, any revolution ends in tyranny, as clerics and propaganda manipulate them. Gramsci adopted the Radical Enlightenment position: that education changes the world. Cf. the Feuerbach Thesis refuted.

The complex organization of life begins with atoms, the basic units of matter. Atoms combine to form small molecules, which then join to form larger molecules within a cell, the smallest, most basic unit of life. Although a cell is alive, it is made of nonliving molecules. —Essentials of Biology.

[W]e have all learned ... from climate change to the COVID-19 pandemic ... that we as a society [should] not only become more scientifically literate but also appreciate the importance of the process of scientific thought and the roles of scientists in our culture. —Preface.

During much of his long life, he was the nexus of the scientific world. Knowledge, Humboldt believed, had to be shared, exchanged and made available to everybody. —Andrea Wulf, The Invention of Nature (London: John Murray, 2015), p. 3.

Aristotle's aim in using division, again, does not seem to be classification, but definition. —David Balme (1972, 1992: 105). This is the great breakthrough of Balme's Aristotelian Biology: to explain that the purpose is not to classify but to know the causes-functions (essences) of living things.

'Structure informs Function' ocw.mit.edu/courses/7-01... or as Aristotle said: Form (Structure) Causes Teleology (Function). The difference between Modern Biology and Aristotle's Biology is that for Aristo Forms were Eternal, not a transitional Trope of Matter in Movement:

Stephen Hawking dijo una vez que si la humanidad pretendía sobrevivir a largo plazo, debería encontrar la forma de salir de la Tierra; sin embargo, era optimista al respecto y el tiempo, en efecto, le ha dado la razón. —Géminis, peli de ficción. En realidad, no se puede salir de la Tierra y vivir.

it is not clear, and whenever one reads an unclear paragraph one knows that the writer is not thinking clearly him- or herself. Pierre Aubenque has some very good ideas on phronesis and the ethical moment in life (kairós, the chance of matter, of movement). Jessica Moss's work is very clarifying.
