Things that might slide under the radar the Friday night before Xmas — Canada’s chief actuary disagrees with the interpretation in an Alberta govt commissioned report that says Alberta should be entitled to 53 per cent of the CPP www.cbc.ca/news/canada/... #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli
Chief actuary disagrees with Alberta government belief of entitlement to more than half of CPP | CBC News
Canada’s chief actuary says Alberta would be entitled to interest from the Canada Pension Plan proportional to the money Albertans invested, should the province withdraw from CPP.

I can't stand Doug Ford. Never voted for him, and never will!

However, his replies to trump are actually good. First, he threatened to cut off Ontario's supply of electricity if tariffs were imposed. And, now, he's saying we'll never be the 51st state.

Still won't win my vote, but kudos 👏

Peeps in Alberta please educate yourselves about who you are voting for. In A provincial by election you are not voting for Pierre Poilievre. 🤦‍♀️

People who are homeless want housing! Why would you sleep in an SRO (Single Room) that had bed bugs, rooms as small as a jail cell, no air conditioning, no windows, no kitchen, and bathrooms down the hall?
Ask yourself would you?
Now maybe you can understand why some would rather sleep outside.

Absolutely agree.
This should be concerning to everyone.

Govt stance: experts and courts don’t matter, “we know what is best for the individual”
This has nothing to do with evidence and everything to do with discriminatory ideology.

When a democratic government ignores fundamental human rights everyone should be very worried about the move towards autocracy and the overriding of courts and ignoring the rule of law. #cdnpoli #abpoli
After months of equivocating...

Smith finally says it clearly.

If the courts rule that Alberta has violated the Canadian Charter, she will use the notwithstanding clause to allow her to violate the human and charter rights of Albertans.

"Absolutely".

Let’s assume the Premier is being truthful about opioid deaths, she’s not but let’s assume.

If this is about opioid deaths, why has no action to secure the border been taken, or even mentioned, before now?

Given the small volume of drugs seized this year, what impact on overdoses is expected?
This is a must watch clip!

Because in it, Smith is fact checked on the amount of drugs and migrants crossing the border.

Smith’s response is to state that “we have the highest level of opioid deaths we’ve ever seen”.

So much for the Alberta Model?

Serious question for Americans. Do you ever worry about you or your family members getting sick? Even with insurance are you able to cover the costs of your treatments and medications or hospital stays without going into massive debt?

And for all the "private is better" types, this area underperforms - largely because it is private.

The incentive is not to free up acute care beds in the public system - in fact it is the opposite.

More money to be made by keeping pts in the public system (at no cost) until forced to take them /3
