This is something that can happen, but it's not that common. The main cause of reindeer mortality is lack of food due to the harsh climate. These animals are painted with great attention to detail in watercolor to create posters that are both artistic and scientific!

A stunning Arctic duck that you can sometimes spot in Svalbard during summer.

The big orange knob on its bill is actually made of feathers! The skull is completely normal.

I painted this species on a nautical chart during an expedition to Svalbard last summer.

I love painting jaeger chicks.
Reason 1: they’re ridiculously cute!
2: Skuas often get a bad reputation because they steal food from other seabirds or sometimes prey on their 🐥. But… they do it to feed their own adorable baby 💛!
