I have the greatest admiration for your work, but writing a tutorial about using influence networks to gain advantage - complete with AI slop image of middle-aged men networking - seems like everything that’s wrong with the culture of science these days. I agree that open access publishing is great.

I’d be cautious about assuming there are rosy futures at Australian universities. But curling would help, no doubt!

And there's still no mechanistic explanation for the 1% which are selectively labelled, right? Pretty amazing. I know mammals aren't your thing but have you seen the Valverde mouse atlases?

These images are stunning - what a miracle the Golgi stain is, almost created neuroscience in its current form.

It’s really good for intermediate filaments too, SMI32 labels about twice as much stuff.

I found a new world of oligo labelling by using on-slide methacarn postfix, it strips out the lipids while leaving everything intact. 6:3:1 methanol:chloroform:glacial acetic acid. It’s nasty stuff and needs glass containers / stoppers. Then rehydrate though an EtOH series and normal immuno protocol

It made me question narrative reviews as evidence of learning and understanding. But like chess, just because there’s a brute-force approach, doesn’t make it less valuable as a thinking tool. It changes me, whereas LLMs have no understanding of the token stream and the context evaporates.
