It might be regional. It's definitely a thing IN Ireland, but it became pub food after the diaspora. It's essentially late night Chinese food in Ireland. Might even be a 20th century phenomenon.

Oh yeah. It's an Irish pub classic. Good for fortifying before a long night or recovery after. Curry spiced nuggies, fries and veg served in a bag with Irish curry sauce

For example: someone needs to invent coasters with a non-stick bottom so they don't get stuck on sticky bars
