At first, you don't think much of it, he's the biggest mob boss in Liberty City, of course everyone will be gunning for him but, we go back to 1992 and his dealings in Las Venturas and how he screws over CJ and Ken Rosenberg, two people who helped him back in Liberty City and in Venturas.

How his grab for power outside of Liberty City lead to further strained relationships. Not to mention his toxic relationship he forms with Maria. We move to 1998 and his paranoia grows stronger, he can't trust anyone except for Toni Cipriani, save for a brief moment of doubt.

Toni sees the writing on the walls and despite becoming Sal's capo, is really among the only members of the family that makes it out alive. With all the backstabbing Sal did over the years, his end would come at the hands of Claude, a man who really has nothing else to lose.

A man at the end of his rope in a world that is moving on without him. Salvatore Leone is one of the best antagonists in the series because he's surprisingly one of the most complex to be one of the series earliest.
