How could *anyone* read Hookland as cosy nostalgia?! My *word* 🙄
Just for any academics, let me be clear, Hookland is anti-nostalgic. It's an exploration and exorcism of my childhood, not a celebration of falsely remembered sunshine. Nostalgia is a warping gravity.

The BBC must stop attacking trans people | Good Law Project
The right wing accusations of ‘pro-trans’ bias are back to front. It’s time for the BBC to live up to its duty to be impartial on trans issues.

v good thread to show to your cis people who don’t understand the kafkaesque web of insane bureaucratic nonsense that british trans people have been trapped in for decades
I want to explain a few things and then it might be clearer why UK trans people are upset.
In 2001 I married my wife, Sylvia.
In 2005 I started medical transition. (1/13)

And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

It really is remarkable that the right keeps asking "What if one of your guys" etc. They really can't comprehend that if someone is an abuser or sexual predator or whatever then THEY ARE NO LONGER OUR GUY. Fuck that guy. Equal rights and equal consequences across the fucking board.
"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

Very much doubt it'll show in any cinemas near me, so I'm disappointed I won't get to check out Julia Ducournau's ALPHA any time soon. Which I can add to the disappointment of there still being no physical release of TITANE over here either. Booooooooo 😠

The more I think about this, the angrier I get. A whole generation (and every subsequent one if certain people get their way) should be robbed of the joys of discovery and creativity and figuring things out because some shower of grifting techbro/politician cunts want that? FUCK THAT VERY MUCH.
It saddens me *so* much that tech giants and governments are trying to take this "becoming" away from children and adolescents, my son included. Being reclusive by nature, I'm also not mega thrilled about having to be seen as a crank whenever I bring up how AI should be nowhere near education.
At risk of flogging a dead horse: this whole letter is a reminder that the creative process is an end in and of itself, and vital to self-actualisation. You can’t experience BECOMING, as he puts it, by outsourcing it to ChatGPT.

they see EVERY PALESTINIAN or brown person as a "terrorist"

they are going to round people up, put them in camps and kill them.

we need to be louder about this.
