My top 5 movie genres:
* A speculative element but the world is as drab & normal as ours
* You were wrong about who the main character was
* Realistic reactions to trauma
* Twist ending makes you question the whole movie
* Every time I watch it I notice something new that makes it a new story
my top 5 movie genres:

- only a deeply traumatized woman can kill this monster
- these attractive men simply cannot keep their clothes on
- is this a horror/thriller or a drag show? yes
- Darling, I am rewriting these lines as I say them and you can’t stop me
- we can never leave this house
my top 5 movie genres:

-person vs grief
-a complicated mother
-about a place and the place isn't New York or LA
-young woman[1] is[2] self-assured
-makes me say wtf like Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Veep

[1] or homo
[2] or isn't

Another "What did that dream mean?" I was hired to polish "Sandal Scandal: Shoe Detective". But I didn't know if "Sandal Scandal" was a character or the mystery's name. And is "shoe detective" one who look at shoe crimes or is the detective a shoe? If my writer friends want to use this, go for it.

A cold, rainy, damp and chilly Halloween here in Ottawa, but put the jack-o'-lanterns out to let the kiddies know we're open.

"COME DRINK HERE OR ELSE" says the sign out front of Pour Boy just in time for Halloween.

Remember when spontaneous human combustion used to be a thing? Not sure what to think about these shoes and pants that look kind of scorched that I just found on the sidewalk one day.

ME: Walking down the street to run an errand, passed two older ladies out for a stroll.

LADY ONE: "I don't care how big he says it is, can he use it right?"

ME: Trying not to make my side-eye too obvious.

LADY ONE: Seeing me. "His vocabulary!"

ME: Walking on, quite amused.

#WritingTip: If you use the "TK" trick as a marker to easily find a spot in your manuscript, but a pocketknife is major plot point...

All right, horror fans, I'm finally going in. I've heard from friends that HOUSE OF LEAVES is a must read so finally taking the plunge.

I just never knew how huge a book it is, but I understand it's even bigger on the inside.

New THE RUNNING MAN trailer not my jam. Hoping for faithful adaption of bleak & brutal novel, but seems a remake of Schwarzenegger's glorious neon-infused cheesefest.

In some other universe Jeremy Saulnier or Ti West got the nod.

In an article in the CENTRETOWN BUZZ, my local community paper, about a gap in funding for infrastructure reveal was the epitaph of western civilization: "The 100-year storm is occurring much more frequently."

My dog going for his knot tying merit badge. Second picture shows where his line is: around and under the ramp, back behind the post, and then around the bird bath. I found him just sitting there waiting for the solution to present itself. ( I guess I was the solution.)

Watched the Buffy episode "The Body" last night.

Not defending Whedon, but Willow & Tara's first onscreen kiss is an intentional "Fuck you" to the prurient male gaze demanding it.

Then there's Tara near a window when the scene begins & Willow looking for a shirt, which collides a season later.

Today was a good day.

Started off at 613flea where we got this great reuseable shopping bag from @boysdontdraw.bsky.social with a picture of our favourite corner store Bayscorner.

Lunch from Mollie's Hot Chicken.

Then set up the patio for another summer spending as much time outside as possible!

Me: I'm gonna take my laptop outside to edit in this glorious weather.

Neighbour: Time to fire up my gas-powered leaf blower (and rather than run it continuously so it's background noise, turn it on and off every 20-30seconds).
So we're at the "Time to change the font" stage of doing revisions, I guess. Going to give the newcomer Aptos a try.

Saw this in a hospital. Isn't Endo Cysto a bounty hunter in Star Wars? Instead of the relentless pursuit of Boba Fett, Endo uses gentle pressure, urging you to relax. Before you know it, it's like he's deep inside you and knows all your secrets.

Can't recall what I said into the voice command option on my remote, but it heard "Don't do". And this was the result.

Reminds me of 25 years ago when typing 'miserable failure' into Google gave you President George W. Bush's biography on whitehouse.gov as the top result.
