I don't understand your point about VAR Dan? VAR thought it might be a red. The ref reviewed it and decided it was a yellow. I thought it was the right call. The other Mcginn one was a head injury. He didn't have any choice unless he's calling the player a liar. It wasn't a foul. Hence drop ball

If emery gets this squad into the top five I agree it might surpass his other achievements. Just look at our attacking options vs the teams we're competing with, or the squad that got into the CL. Chelsea probably have attackers who'd by themselves completely raise our level

Are villa making XG look like woke nonsense by only scoring absolute bangers? Or are we heading for an almighty drop off, because we aren't opening teams up?

Lucky to be drawing. Amid all the recent improvement this team still has some quite big limitations. Above all we just don't open teams up much at all and I think this set of players (absent any real pace or threat out wide) will always struggle with that.

In the absence of any real wide threat I agree that pairing the two seems the obvious shout.

Lack of quality / pace / dribbling ability out wide in games like this is an issue.

Football has got itself into a weird position where any sort of hand on face contact is a red. You could probably dig someone in the ribs at three times the power and not be sent off.

I just dont see it. He was available all summer. Several top clubs changed keepers. Nobody actually bid for him.

I've always always backed Ollie. He's clearly massively out of confidence. But I also wonder if he's lost some of his sharpness in the first half a second. Quite a few games this season he's half a second away from having a great chance, if he had a bit more explosiveness

It's really enjoyable. But can't escape the feeling that we surely can't keep winning so many of these knife edge games / scoring a banger from outside the box every match. Do wonder if malen and Watkins up top might be worth more of a spin?

Yeah I think I'd get either Tielemans or a disappointing kamara off. Put mcginn central. And go 4222 with malen up top.
