Sure glad those US weapons are available btw

bsky.app/profile/blue...
Due to the prolonged partial shutdown of the US gov the export of 🇺🇸 weapons worth more than $5 billion , intended for #NATO allies & 🇺🇦has been delayed
As a result, the delivery of sys such as HIMARS, Aegis & AMRAAM missiles for 🇩🇰, Croatia, & 🇵🇱 has been postponed

Too bad, the current US president does a lot of that.

F127 frigates, going to be equipped with Raytheon radars. No radars exist in europe?

Rheinmetal CEO, openly saying in interviews that "Relying on European solutions alone would be counterproductive". What the hell?

There is a deep issue with defaulting to US procurement over Europe.

Meanwhile Germany is buying 3.5B€ worth of armored vehicles from... General Dynamics. Don't tell me they have no equivalent in europe.

Airbus is getting in bed with Kratos, Rheinmetal getting in bed with Anduril for CCAs. Existing projects in UK and Sweden, and Helsing is _right there_

MPA, germany left the MWAS program and actively refused loaned Atlantic 2. The capability was there and was refused.

Anti-radiation missiles, agreed. Capability gap to be filled by Stratus in the 2030s.

Cruise and AA missiles: Taurus and Iris-T looking at you like "am I a joke to you?"

5th gen, everybody knows the only reason germany picked F-35 was for the continuity of the nuclear sharing mission (they even explored certifying the suphornet or the eurofighter for this instead), not because they needed or wanted a 5th gen.

Heavylift helo, agreed. Capability gap.

It's BECAUSE ukraine has no complex systems like FCAS that they have to fight like that.

The entire point is we don't want to be stuck in an attrition war. Air power opens avenues to restore mobility. SEAD is crucial.

So should they buy J-20s from china? 155mm shells from NK? Shaheds from Iran? They're available, functional and just as friendly as the US
November 6, 2025 at 7:39 PM
no EU alternative to what exactly? There's plenty of things germany buys in the US or collaborates with the US for that have perfectly fine sovereign european alternatives.
November 6, 2025 at 7:36 PM
Everytime a German defense company signs a contract with a US company, we in France see it as a straight up betrayal of the European project and sovereignty.

It's not even about not buying French. Go buy saab, go buy bae, go buy leonardo. Don't buy kratos and anduril and lockmart.

20 billions is a crazy amount of money.

France's entire SCORPION program, which includes a combat cloud, digital comms and 2400 brand new vehicles, only cost 8B.

What the hell happened.

France cares more about strategic autonomy and Germany cares more about being a good US ally. The industrial strategies are diametrically opposed.
