If you've ever been to a naturalization ceremony, you know they're filled with people whose palpable love of this country is twenty times stronger than the pinched "patriotism" of any native-born MAGA chud.

Just unspeakable assholery.

Miami isn’t in their title game…..and neither are either of the teams that beat them
There's reason to rank ND ahead (especially if, like me, you're not an "h2h is everything" person), and there's reason to rank Miami ahead. Pushing Miami ahead after neither of them played a game and only ND's résumé changed even slightly (for the better) makes me insane.

The committee can credibly say Notre Dame has been the better team. If Miami wants to be mad about it they shouldn’t have lost to two 8-4 teams.

Okay, I've deleted my earlier post. Apparently, this is *not* a pipe. But the fact that I thought it was says a lot about society.

W.E.B. Du Bois on Robert E. Lee:

“Either he knew what slavery meant when he helped maim and murder thousands in its defense, or he did not. If he did not he was a fool. If he did, Robert Lee was a traitor and a rebel–not indeed to his country, but to humanity and humanity’s God.”

‘SINNERS’ is estimated to earn a phenomenal $42M domestically this weekend, a 10% drop

• Would be the smallest box office drop for a major movie in modern history

• Strong chance the film could earn more this weekend than last weekend

Here’s the best way to understand what’s happening. Trump genuinely wants to impose a 19th century mercantilist model that would crash the economy and destroy the global trading order but the idea is just so colossally stupid and destructive, he can’t actually do it. So we get this.

Hi, I'm the guy who used to oversee the federal government's agency IT telecommunications contracts. This is extremely bad. There is absolutely no need for this. Not only is it a huge security exposure, but the simplest explanation for this is that it is meant to be a security exposure.

I know. It's the same reason I shrug off how many picks NYK gave up for Mikal, since they sent out 0 players of consequence in that deal. Nonetheless, you would think Dallas would have gotten the Lakers' best draft assets, in addition to AD, rather than Charlotte somehow getting them for Williams.

friendly reminder that the best case scenario over the coming years is that a lot of people say "I supported Trump but this isn't what I wanted at all" and when they do that it's gonna be really, really important that we say "welcome in," not "fuck you, we told you so"

i think it is important to say that the open and explicit racism of the president and the vice president isn’t just uncouth or “controversial” but a direct attack on tens of millions of americans and a dereliction of their duty to represent the entire country
