"This thing almost everyone agrees is good will be hard, so give up". Not an attitude I admire. On top of that I can't agree that it has too many hurdles. Look at the state of the polls, Labour will be rewarded heavily from a ranked-preference system. The only "hurdle" is lack of courage.

The Economist has gone down-hill intellectually. Where is the data? You quote a handful of people and draw a "vibes" argument from them. You present Piketty's comment that law-breakers fleeing the country should be arrested, as if it's a radical idea. The Economist is a shell of its former self.

Disappointing arguments. A few academics saying they don't like advocating for wealth taxes, that's not data. You focus on bumpy results from France's attempt, that is one data-point & there are other approaches. You point to people complaining about wealth taxes, all taxes get complained about.
