Claude is doing most of the heavy lifting for now until I figure it all out.

We've heard from friends of friends that drugs aren't a curriculum topic until gr 6 or 7. So yes, I think after the principal did some digging it was an "oh shit" moment. But we'll never know for sure.

Epilogue, at a follow-up meeting the gr1 teacher apologized and said he shouldn't have and will never again give the just say no lesson to that grade. Also the principal raised it all to the district principal, not sure what will happen with that.

I figured they'd start short turning or breaking off the Production Stn trains if this dragged on. It happens, Skytrain control is doing a great job communicating at Main St.

A Mk V is less exciting under these circumstances. 😀

Oh I agree, it's probably from the early standardization of written music and early times. Just... it's a very euro-centric thing to still teach, this is what white people say the rules of music are. Just like rainbows having seven colours, total European view.

Yeah I too was surprised on how long you were out, I was getting kind of worried. How "I can make it through the morning" turned into a week-long illness...

If we had an electoral system which didn't cause wild swings, in which parties would have to learn they will always be in minority governments so it's pointless to play these games, maybe we could get this collaborative world.

Agreed, but I am okay with Elizabeth May being the kingmaker.

Result from the principal chat, "teachers have autonomy." So there's no accountability for teaching dangerous and outdated notions on drug use and addiction? Showing 6&7 year olds mugshots is okay? It's hard to be a firm union supporter at moments like this.

We just wish this topic was delivered by a professional from the addictions support field, or a district nurse. But apparently the budget for such things has vanished. My "masters in addiction counseling" wife had a word with the teacher and is still a little miffed.
