Sometimes, when reviewing a manuscript, it's really unclear to me what precisely the authors are trying to do -- which makes it hard to evaluate the work properly.
So, here's some advice for how to ensure that readers don't get lost.

Hi does anyone have a good suggestion for a documentary film about terra preta and biochar addition to soil. It's for an intro soils class. Had been using an old BBC doc, but it is quite dated now.

Interesting paper. Provides a quantitative basis for giving our postdocs good advice rather than just anecdotes that people say.
Interesting
"One key finding is that postdoc period seems more important than doctoral training to achieve early-career success. Another group of findings can be summarised as a Goldilocks principle: It seems beneficial to change one’s direction, but not too much"

🌵✨ When we say biocrusts are "the coral reefs of the desert," we mean it—just look at these vibrant colors! 🟠🟡🔵🔴 They're also reef-like in their roles stabilizing soil, reducing erosion, retaining moisture, and fixing nitrogen 🌿

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a way to suppress invasive plants and replace them with #biocrust? We're not quite there, but we're not so far way either. New paper from the DIRT lab (Ecoss & Forestry, NAU) & MPG Ranch. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1... @restorationecology.bsky.social
Moss‐covered biodegradable weed barriers promote biocrust establishment but fail to suppress exotic plants
Ecological restoration often requires exotic invasive plant control. In many ecosystems, reestablishment of biological soil crusts (biocrusts) is a desired restoration outcome because biocrusts enhan...

My academic research lab is building a new web page. One thing we'd like is a publications list page. But we'd love for it to update itself! With ORCID, Scopus & Google Scholar, this must be possible! Ours must pool multiple lab member's pubs (not just mine). Has anyone found the way to do it?
