It’s a little ironic that you also say “I do” at your divorce hearing when they swear you in.

~Every ash tree in the country will be dead within the next couple decades because of the emerald ash borer. 75% of the ash trees in the DC area are already gone.
between this and the FSO Safer (another ship at serious risk of exploding) I’m convinced every field has its “yeah, this is the problem that keeps me up at night” and I’m on a quest to learn about all of them
yes yes we all know about the Edmund Fitzgerald, rest her soul, but did you know about the ship laden with explosives that sank in the mouth of the Thames in 1944 and could explode at any minute and which attempts to disarm keep failing

And it’s not just making a good latte, it’s doing it 300 times in a row on a Sunday farmers market day with a line down the block and no air conditioning. I loved the job, but it was not easy.
it's not that i ever doubted that being a barista was a skilled position, but my year-long effort to try to produce a half-decent latte at home has convinced me that a good barista is easily more skilled than virtually every c-suite executive on the planet

Agreed, but related to this: SCOTUS, Congress, and the president should all be paid dramatically more than they are now. It would not be unreasonable to pay them like the college football coaching staff at a public university: say $10M/yr for the president, $1.5M/yr for SCOTUS, $750k/yr for Congress
One of my Supreme Court reform takes is they should be completely barred from taking any outside income (incl. publishing deals) and it should be particularly frowned upon, normatively, to be writing books. Memoirs are for writing after you retire, not five years into a lifetime appointment.

CNN obtained access to Barrett's memoir, in which the justice also takes on religious bias and details her decision-making process, revealing that her chambers once celebrated with champagne when other justices joined a "particularly tricky" opinion of hers. https://cnn.it/45YXtwV

To be noted: right now there are states where app-based sports gambling doesn’t exist, like WA. We still get all the ads during the national broadcasts, but we can’t download or use the apps. I would love to see data about foreclosure rates and Gen Z and Alpha debt-to-income ratios vs gambling laws.

I enjoyed Frankenstein and all the performances in it were fantastic but there’s something about Netflix-produced movies that makes them come off a little half baked. Glass Onion had the same problem.
