It should honestly be zero, people overestimate how much money the league makes off of actual gambling (the partnerships, the data, etc) and how the value of gambling to the league is more people watching the product and how that translates to where the real money is (media rights).

Do they really though? This in particular is done in conjunction with the replay center, who would almost certainly say "nah, that's too weak" unless the conspiracy goes all the way to the top, this is just garden variety silly officiating which has existed since the beginning of time.

DEALER: It says here took a selfie wearing sunglasses and made it their Twitter profile picture on their blue checkmark account with 30 followers.

BUYER: oh that's a nonstarter for us, we'll take a look at the Civic

It's the same story it's been for a decade, if Joel is playing and anywhere close to his normal level they'll be good, if he's not, they won't be. He's that good and even those of us who know that take it for granted.

The only thing they don't have in common with the current Sixers is an actual deep run and crippling injury luck but man the constant feeling that they screwed themselves out of a win through cosmic means feels very Sixersy

I know it's in all of our lived experience to think that the Sixers are doing something stupid, but I feel like they had every incentive to get this done months ago and the fact that it hasn't happened, to me, doesn't point to them as the culprits.

I don't think keeping the TMLE available matters too much at this point, by the time it's relevant they'll be through the deadline and their cap sheet could look completely different with several very tradeable expirings.

I think if this could have gotten done for 3/45 it would have gotten done in June. It seems like they have wildly different valuations on the long-term deal, so the Sixers have said "fine, do a mutually beneficial one-year deal instead then" as the alternative since this has dragged for three months

MIKE MAYOCK: this guy here, great tape, one of the best "you can't handle the truth" reads you'll ever see, but for some reason he keeps going back to the Jeff Daniels speech from The Newsroom and scouts aren't wild about his decision making"

great idea here is $800 million for your side project, we just laid off 10000 people making $500 a year to help pay for it

If they actually win it all, sure, nobody's going to care. But this team is also at the point where a division title and a loss in the NLCS would be seen as a failure, they're the 2003 Eagles now, so it's even more all or nothing than normal.
