Sadly, I don't think a single person I knew came out at 15. That would have been 1998.
How much more difficult were their relationships with their families, friends and coworkers? Themselves?

Also pointing out something that many men, including my husband, do not consider - the ION station has an emergency button, fantastic lighting and a raised platform.
Traveling solo as a woman I would take an ION station any time of day over a random bus stop.

I also include myself, despite being a person who was born in Hong Kong, lived in South Korea (both places with excellent public transport) but grew up in Toronto with car culture and drink the car Koolaid hard like the average North American

If there is anything I've learned from listening to @thewaroncars.bsky.social and reading all these books on sustainable urbanism, it's that the average person has a terrible understanding of what good public transportation infrastructure looks like.
