Without planning on it at all, we caught part of the eruption in the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland a few days ago. Also saw some of the lava scars from last year. What an otherworldly place.

I met some puffins yesterday! They are much smaller than I expected, though just about as cute as I expected. They all had adult coloring, but many of them seemed to be rather new to adulthood :)

Our sweet silly girl was diagnosed with end stage lymphoma today. We are doing palliative care but prognosis is very short (days to weeks). Ligo was such a strange and cute little ball of energy, and things turned very quickly. Hug your cats if you have them.

We had a brief window before the clouds rolled in. We could just barely see a pink haze without our cameras.

I was also starting to develop anemia, and since these are all symptoms that can get worse over time and my tumor was so small, the risks of continuing outweighed any possible benefit. So yesterday was my fourth and last chemo infusion!

So I shaved everything off and reacquainted myself with my head tattoo. :) it was a big hit at my next infusion appointment!

The ice cap was a bit too tight and ended up riding up and losing contact with the top of my scalp. So two weeks after that first session I was starting to sport the balding medieval monk look.

So back in April I began chemotherapy with two drugs - taxotere and cyclophosphamide. I also tried using a cooling cap to see if I could keep my hair.

So we did a lumpectomy and sent the excised tumor back to pathology for more testing. Unfortunately they still couldn’t come to a consensus. The tumor didn’t fit cleanly into either type - showing some features associated with TNBC, and some associated with sweat gland cancer.

I pushed for more tests and finally got an ultrasound and biopsy in early December.

It turns out yesterday was my last chemo session! We thought I’d have to do 6 infusions, but it turns out 4 is sufficient for my type of tumor and doing any more chemo would just give me more side effects with no real benefit. I’m so glad this phase of treatment is over!

I used to commute into NYC from the Staten Island Ferry many years ago. Did a loop on the ferry yesterday to show someone and it did not disappoint :)

In addition to colorization options from @CIWRO_ I’ve added a 3D surface plot based on the clean long wave infrared channel. It’s a lot of fun.
