Things I couldn't fit into my bio, because we don't have enough boxes:

1. Location: A boring (but quite nice) suburb of Chicago

2. I have a boyfriend, and we're engaged to be married.

Best to end some conversations before they have a chance to start and become awkward.

Somebody put me on this list.

bsky.app/profile/did:...

"Bigoted (excrement)heads, Genocide and/or Rape Apologists"

I softened some profanity. For the record: I'm against rape, genocide and racism and always have been. I don't know why @adrienneleigh.bsky.social would do such a thing.

I wanted to name my bookmarking account @math-is-for-boys-too.bsky.social, but we're not allowed to use that many characters.

"Feminist" does not mean "hater of men." Of course, I provide the same encouragement to my male students that I do to my female ones.

So there is no misunderstanding ... my handle has nothing to do with "misandry." I took it to push back against a regressive attitude that I've seen being pushed aggressively of late - that girls should be discouraged from studying Math and Science because "those jobs are for boys."

Yes, @primacy-of-reason.bsky.social

bsky.app/profile/prim...

is me, too. You MIGHT want to follow that account, but you probably won't, for reasons I will explain.

In the course of writing a piece, I will often have a great many sources to check. My bookmarks outnumber my original works. For this reason, I'm splitting my bookmarking activity off from my other work, and sending it off to an account of its own (this one).

I appreciate followers, but be sure you mean it. This, at times, is going to be a heavily used account. Following it might mean that you'll get floods of new bleets, followed by long dry spells during which I'll be off doing schoolwork, or spending time with my fiance.

25 days later, I still haven't heard back from Bluesky. At this point, I doubt that they'll reply, but at least both of my accounts are still here. That's a good sign.

Maybe whatever this was is over. I can always hope.

Some anonymous coward on the staff wanted to flex his power. He'll probably be coming for my main account, next.

The only things on my bookmarking account were a handful of decorations, an explanation of how I would post readable long form essays and something about why I was separating my bookmarking activities from my regular posting. That was it.

Between schoolwork, family life and planning for my upcoming wedding, I had been too busy to be here, much, before yesterday, when that email was sent to me by the Bluesky mods at 7:03 am Chicago time.

That would have been 5:03 am SF time, a strange time for a mod to do anything, but somebody did it. As you can see, they don't say who I was supposedly impersonating by using the nickname I've been known by on campus, since first year, or by using my display name from Twitter.

There's no mention of the untruth I supposedly told, just a vague allusion to its existence. They didn't specify any, because there were none to find.

But that objective fact didn't seem to matter to whoever was on the staff.

I've filed an appeal, but nothing that I've been hearing leaves me feeling encouraged about my chances of being treated fairly on appeal. They did just send me an email telling me that they held a meeting and chose to see something that wasn't there, more or less.

The staff gaslit me.
