I see this and raid you the FMVs from Warhammer 40k Final Liberation. The performances that can only be described as “contractually obligated”. The “found this trench coat in my attic”levels of costuming. Truly epic. (Game’s meh tho, C&C games rock)

Basically just do it Epic Scale, like Warhammer 40,000: Final Liberation

...which, by the way, is not just a fantastic wargame but ALSO the final resting place for a failed attempt in the 1990s to make a 40k TV show, which is why every cutscene is in FMV BABYYYYYY!

I wonder if anyone who used to work for GW back in the day actually saw the whole movie? Maybe @gavthorpe.bsky.social might know?

Ahhh this is the stuff they ended up repurposing parts of for the Final Liberation cutscenes ... gods those cutscenes fired my imagination back then, made me think how cool 40k/Fantasy movie / tv series could possibly be some day.

Favorite 40K video game is still and always will be final liberation though. 90s fmv cutscenes between missions , a tactical and strategical layer to rival most war games at the time and above all the most kick ass soundtrack you can imagine!

Lots of guesses, a few people nailed it. The inspiration was Final Liberation PC game from 97, my first exposure to 40k. Also Ian Wood did some excellent digging, seems the team at SSI used a combination of old Epic 40k references for schemes. Man I need to play Final Lib again!

One of our older #videogames, #Warhammer #40K: Final Liberation, is having a bit of a resurgence right now. It was the first Warhammer computer strategy game. I had a fun interview with Tactical Tortoise and its #gamedev. He had a lot of good insights about the game itself youtu.be/FX3meDz11io?...

I actually started with the computer games! Before I ever bought a mini, I played the original Epic 40K: Final Liberation game, which had magnificently low budget cut-scenes on the CD: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWjJ...

I was hooked.

"Come to Chaos..." *hauntingly and enticingly*

Random Games bought us Warhammer 40K XCOM in 1998 with Warhammer 40k: Chaos Gate.

Home of some of the most banger 40k themed music tracks to do battle alongside.

Yeah, same here! I loved Epic scale 40k too, so Final Liberation with all its cheesy FMV really rubbed an itch with me.

One of the generated names that come up for a male Rogue Trader is ‘Holt’, no doubt in reference to Commissar Holt.

@toxicwaltzdisney.bsky.social started it today and has eagerly awaited playing as a dogmatic commissar; it was fate that his character is now named after him.

Final liberation for me, and in retrospect its a surprise it took me so long to switch to 6mm only for 40k.

It's run by a couple of my friends, and it's surprisingly really active already. When I woke up this morning, the global feed was all entirely new posts. IK I never really shared my art on here, because I was nervous, but I don't really feel that way on here.

So... I've been digging for a little while and discovered Side7 and SheezyArt. Both seem to be pretty good DeviantArt alternatives. I made accounts on both, and regularly posts on both. More active on Side7
I wish we could have something like it again. Few sites have tried but with little luck. Unfortunately, social media seems to be the future for art. Not that its entirely bad, but it would be nice to have a site strictly for art and writing again.

I should mention that the year this commerical was made, Marriott Amusments had split from Marriott Corporation and spun off into its own independent company. It became this Atari Corporation and Atari Games thing, with Marriott Amusments being the latter.

Due to the fact that the site is filled with nothing but Fill In Memes and AI “Art”

No wonder why the site became a lost cause at this point, and the fact that ThePackagedReviewer gave up on DA Rants
