The tragedy in Texas is horrible, but let’s be clear about who is at fault. This is a failure of leadership. Technologies exist that can provide early warning of floods. And yet the federal and state governments left it to the poor county of 50,000 souls to figure it out.

フランス人に「子供の父親はスペイン人で」と言った後に 「c’est un beau mélange（良い混じり方だね）」と言われた事も何度もあって悪気がないとはいえ（では良くない混じり方もあると言う事？）といつも思う。
奥さんが日本人のフランス人に「君んちの子もハーフ（ここだけ日本語）なんんだ」と言われてうちは夫にハーフと言う概念を教えた事も話した事もないので驚いた。
皆人種に言及する事に関して敷居が低くてびっくりするわ。。私が気にし過ぎなんだろうか。
双子には君達は日本人でスペイン人。２つの文化が知れてラッキーだねとは言うけど人種云々に関してはなるべく口にしたくない。

「彼は島倉千代子が大好きで大好きで、ずーっとファンクラブに入っていたのですが、釜ヶ崎で仕事を失い、野宿になっていくと、ファンクラブもやめざるを得なくなったのでした。だから、もらった生活保護費で真っ先に島倉千代子のファンクラブに入ったと、うれしそうに会員証を見せてくれました。
人間らしい暮らしというのは案外そういうところにある。（中略）野宿から生活保護に移ると、急にお金を持ったものだから無茶なお金の使い方をしてしまったりして、また生活がぼろぼろになっていく人もいます。（引用続く）
