Had an electrician in this morning to do some work ahead of getting a new cooker, and that work led to finding faults that needed to be fixed and cupboards moved from the walls and the power being off briefly and the router refusing to work … and I’m hoping we’re back to normal

After our weekend trip to see the illuminated garden trail, we went back to Calke today to see the house decorated and the mice preparing for Christmas

The Christmas illuminated trail at Calke Abbey is wonderful this year. I loved the light and music displays on the hall and among the trees

Persuaded myself into going out, if only for a walk round the block. Not too cold in the sun but winter is definitely here
November 21, 2025 at 3:17 PM
Today is forecast to be the last sunny day for a while so I feel I should get out and about but it’s just too cold ❄️

Rather disappointed to not have snow. It’s late anyway as it’s supposed to fall on my mother’s birthday a few days ago

Feeling Christmassy at Chatsworth

Getting over my cold now, with a lot less coughing, but today my sense of taste has gone crazy - cheese ploughman’s sandwich at lunch tasted odd and some ginger nuts just now seemed burned 🤷‍♀️

Moody shots at Carsington Water’s Stones Island yesterday. The dramatic change in the weather is almost unbelievable

Took advantage of today’s sunshine to visit Carsington Water. I knew the water level was low but I didn’t expect it to be this empty!

Went to see my daughter in Manchester on Sunday, came back yesterday, but feel like I’ve been away for a week

Went out for the first time in a while due to a cold, and Christmas has sneaked up

A friend won a guess the weight competition for a massive pumpkin. It’s far too big for them so she gave me a quarter, which will keep me in soup and chillies and curries for ages. It’s knobbly on the outside but lovely and golden inside, and makes a lovely coloured soup

Just watched Ep1 of #TheWitcherIV and, although I was dubious about the change from Henry Cavill , I think Liam Hemsworth has taken over well
