Labour's approach to challenging Farage seems to be along the lines of "if we're going to have public hangings, you'll want to vote for a party that knows how to tie the knots properly, rather than those fumble-fingered clowns".
Labour have now put out a response to the Farage speech, in the name of Ellie Reeves - it’s all about the practicalities of deportation and detention. Suggests they’re just fine with his tone/language/the very dark turn this whole debate is taking.

Yep. For the most committed, it's a hole in the map. For some an opportunity. But for most, it's just a historical factoid.

The impetus for change has to come from within the UK.

Well done Calum Miller
Calum Miller, MP for the constituency where Nigel Farage delivered his repatriation speech today, says Oxfordshire is “thriving thanks to overseas talent” – and criticised him for not meeting residents living near Campsfield House detention centre, next to the venue for Farage’s event.

A day of shame for the UK. A political party proposes mass deportations and the response from other political parties is not to condemn this as going further than even Mosley or the National Front.
No10 spokesman not prepared to criticise anything about Farage speech today.

Not his description of "invasion", not his prediction that the UK on brink of civil war, not plans to pay the Taliban or Iran to take back migrants, or indeed to rule out doing so themselves.

To reiterate: literally *NONE* of this stands up to any scrutiny as an argument, but it did something that this Labour party is never gonna do without major changes (win re-election).
The final closing argument re: Howard in 2005 was "economic stability is at risk. Your mortgage is at risk. Your job is at risk", frankly, none of which was in any way true.

One of two very good threads by Adam on this. A startling number of people - responding, in part, by the tone set by their government - just have this very complacent 'oh, no, this plan will never work'. I mean, 1) it could but also 2) they will definitely try.
It's important to assume that Reform in Government would indeed try to do this. The right thing is not to tell the public that this won't happen - so they can therefore vote for Reform without guilt - but rather that a vote for Reform is a vote for the suffering of hundreds of thousands of people.
None of this will ever happen, and it's incumbent on the BBC to at least indicate that everybody who knows anything about this topic says it's a load of baloney. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Are these guys dense? Newsom is not trying to “mimic” Trump. He’s making fun of him.
JD Vance: "This idea that Gavin Newsom is somehow gonna mimic Donald Trump's style -- I think that ignores the fundamental genius of President Trump's political success, which is that he's authentic."
