Prompt in Advanced Functions today: Create 3 exponential equations so that one can be solved using common factoring, one by factoring a quadratic and one using the quadratic formula. Great conversations and some nice questions ensued. ♾️

In #MTH1W students found 2 numbers that multiplied to 36. Then a list of 10 which became a table. Then they plotted those points. All around the room, the graphs were only in quadrant I. I told them they were missing half of the graph!

My students played Log War today and there was a lot of joy in the room. They became much more fluent with logs along the way.

Introduced Sum of Squares (sometimes known as Pythagorean theorem) with this activity. I showed a list of triangle side lengths which they drew on 1 cm grid paper and determined whether each made a right angles triangle. As a class we determined 👍 or 👎.
