Fell into a crater after a family member was diagnosed with cancer, and felt everything I was doing was... just pointless. So threw my resume at the manufacturing tech opening since it was in healthcare and something useful I felt I could do given my experience.

Graduated with a ComSci BA but had something of a falling out due to just... not liking the tools. Main one being social media apis, since scrapping people's posts just felt like privacy invasion to me (despite being mostly public) and it felt weird.

Read more about the game industry and watching indie dev struggles at the time (skullgirls' curse in particular) got me to shift away and pursue a path that felt more stable, switching to a data science focused approach, majoring in software engineering and informatics

Imo some idea of their world or at least some kind of unifying situation for them to interact with really helps in figuring out how they work and how to expand on them.
Speaking personally, main OC lives in a light sci-fi setting and sold himself to science, which is why he changes so drastically.
