Near the grave of writer James Thurber is a monument to a Thurber family dog named Muggs, who was immortalized in the short story "The Dog That Bit People." When we walk the cemetery, Arturo & I always visit. Muggs is Arturo's patron saint. Thurber's marker is much smaller & unnoticeable.

It's Deaf Dog Awareness Week! Madelyn Snow & Arturo Otis Niveous were born deaf due to merle to merle breeeding. They are both Australian Shepherds & trained in agility, rally, scent games, & tricks. They can do anything a hearing dog can do except hear. Madelyn just turned 11 yrs old & Arturo is 8.

I never got the fuss about Dune, movies or books. And I love me some scifi. My future ex-husband at the time got so upset with me because I got bored with the book & didn't finish it, then got pissed when I watched the movie & told him how I figured it would end.

The greatest gift the internet ever gave me- a 25-yr friendship with a person I never got to hug. We met online & the whole country was between us & family responsibilities kept us from traveling. Devo was one of the kindest folks ever. Cancer sucks. Find a fucking cure already!

So cute though. Deaf? I have two DM Aussies, both deaf. One from Tennessee, Madelyn Snow. One from Texas, Arturo Otis Niveous. So smart it's scary at times. I may have to downsize when I'm older to a corgi, but I love those smart-ass herding dogs.
