I gotta say I find a lot of AI discourse around higher ed very confusing. "if ChatGPT can write your essays is college even worth it?" did people think math teachers were assigning problem sets because *they* couldn't figure out the answers?

Here’s an excellent article from @digibritislam.bsky.social‘s @drkelshayyal.bsky.social and Dr Sadek Hamid on British Muslim podcasters. There’s lots to consider in relation to the impacts of podcast content, and - especially - the personalities behind the pods.

A important thread!
Yes we have work to do on climate crisis & sustainable lifestyles, but do we really need orientalist takes on the "feudal" "ancient city" of Edo? Research on Japan's successes (and its many failings) in environmental sustainability was done by Totman decades ago. www.bbc.com/culture/arti...
What the Japanese Edo period can teach us about today
How a recycled garment made from tattered rags symbolises the ingenuity of what could have been one of the world's first large-scale ecological civilisations.

So I'm on this list, which is bananas. And right off the bat I notice Ai Yazawa and Kyoko Okazaki, two pioneering shojo manga artists whose careers have been cut short by severe health problems. Please, please, instead of messing around with AI trash, buy these artists' books and support them.
#Webcomics Hey kids! Here's a fun game! They just dropped a list of All the artists that Midjourney admits to having scraped to train its A.I. engine. Are YOU on it? (We are) Do you have a good lawyer? (We do) (storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...)

Let this be the year you stop worrying about “self-promotion” and just talk about the cool things you are working on.

We shouldn’t have to wait for the book to be published to know what it’s about.

Some ppl will be eager to read it if they’ve had lots of info (esp non-fiction)
Everyone. This applies to everyone. You cannot say too much about your book.
TELL BLUESKY MORE ABOUT YOUR BOOK PLEASE!
