I've never played HOI, or any Paradox game. But I am a history geek, and the poor performance and leadership, and general incompetence of the Soviet military, especially early in the war, are not controversial concepts. Although I misremembered the Soviet casualties in Finland. It was 900k.

...once they started making them for the civilian market again.
No American generation since then really knows what War is like. To not just see it on the news or even have someone you know die in combat. But to have to go on a waiting list for staplers, so the Pentagon didn't run out of them.

One thing that fascinated me was the ads. So many companies had gone over fully to war work, but still ran ads for stuff they couldn't sell until the war ended. I was especially struck by this ad for Bostitch Staplers, where you could get on a waiting list to buy a stapler....

@disneyprimevideo.bsky.social will you be adding a remake/reboot/re-imagining of this classic Troma film to your lineup soon? The recent rise in use of Frog costumes to protest ICE activities, and the threat to bring National Guard troops to Portland for a Frog Hunt, would suggest now is the time.

I had this printed out and used it as a protest sign at a BLM protest back in 2020. It has not become less relevant since then.

We've got some huge connected indoor tennis courts here in Chicago if they really want that Third Estate vibe. Plenty of room to set up temporary bleachers and a speaker's podium.
