Don’t forget, the Nazi and Fascist persecution of the Jewish people didn’t start with the camps. It starts with seemingly senseless cruelties like forbidding Gentiles to work Jewish people, banning them from stores and schools. And on and on. Actions that dehumanized in the eyes of the population.

Watched “The Downfall” tonight. I’d heard Bruno Ganz was superb in it but hadn’t expected such wonderful performances from every cast member. It was powerful and unsettling. It neither whitewashed the characters nor dehumanized them. Such horrors enacted by such mediocre people.

So far I’m liking the structure and content here. Of course my sweetie gave me a list of good people to follow starting out so it puts the posts I see immediately on a high quality level.

Opening for the band Garth wanted me to go out and teach him My Funny Valentine in front of a full house. I regret not doing so. He was a beautiful, generous human.
