I bought a couple books. Dark Tower 1&2. Candide by Voltaire. Ambergris trilogy. And Kafka stories with and intro by Borges (Borges short story book has an intro by Edgar Poe. What a wonderful trio). All secondhand.

John Locke had some great ideas. Government should protect human rights, and if it doesn’t, there is a right of revolution.
What u.e know, wrote Locke, comes to us through sense perception of the material world and is imprinted on the mind as on a blank tablet. From these perceptions alone we form ideas. Our ideas are not in- nate or God-given; it is only from experience that we can knorr (this belief is called the "doctrine of empiricism"). Locke asserted that human beings are born good, not cursed by original sin. The Iaws of Nature grant them the natural rights of life, liberty, and property, as well as the right to freedom of conscience. Govern- ment is by contract, and its purpose is to protect these rights; if and when government abuses these rights, the citizenry has the further natural right of revolution.
