Yesterday, the menhirs of the region (western Algarve) are often decorated. Wavy lines are sometimes interpreted as serpentiforms... but on other menhirs there are also lozenges and other motifs..

Thanks, Alex! The project is focused on unravelling the chronologies and contexts of what are assumed to be the earliest megalithic monuments in Europe, i.e. standing stones (menhirs). We apply a new methodological approach to date when menhirs were first set in the landscape in various regions....
