That and some people's insufferable attempts to draw a single timeline through a franchise that has spanned seven decades. Yes, we want to tell stories about the character that are contemporary. Yes, that means setting them during the Cold War and also the 21st century. why is that so confusing?

So much of this nonsense seems to have emerged in the wake of Judy Dench's casting in both the Brosnan and Craig eras, despite CASINO ROYALE ostensibly being Bond's origin story. It's not rocket science. Dench is a great actress so they kept her on. End of story. People are so infuriating sometimes.
