My 3-year-old daughter:

There’s *awful* stuff in the Home Office; I’d like to identify who’s responsible.
Civil servants do what the elected government tell them to; they’re non-political. If we want to politicise the civil service (to do good things) we also have to accept the possibility of radicalisation the other way.

Truly hope the images of starved & tortured freed detainees, some of whom can’t recall their name or haven’t had news from outside world in decades, haunt those who kept claiming Syria was safe / pushed for refugees’ return. Though that would assume baseline for morality / expectation of remorse.

#Sednaya — all who were murdered and tortured there must be accounted for. International fact-finding and forensic capacity must be deployed with urgency and speed. If international criminal justice was meant for anything — it was meant for this.
