Marriage does deal with those rights. Ask your folks. Of course as you point out, it’s not the only legal mechanism for conveying property rights, or arranging inheritance. I’m not arguing for or against marriage, just pointing out some reasons why - in addition to love - it exists.

Marriage - as distinguished from love - clarifies & protects certain rights, such as property, inheritance & making medical decisions for spouses. I’m sure others could weigh in better, esp. re: obligations of raising children.
