Animator. Loves film scores, books, and dark chocolate. I adore comics and tend to talk about them far often. He/him. (Header image is by Bryan Konietzko)
I will forever recommend Hope Larson and Rebecca Mock’s Salt Magic. It’s a great book for kids with a whole other level for adults to appreciate. I’ve gifted it multiple times and it’s always loved. Last time I did so, the kid read the book immediately, then read it again that evening. #comics

Repost with your model of positive masculinity.

I like a man that’s compassionate, believes in love, and gives others wings.

The Mummy by Faith Erin Hicks. Part of this is just that I love the 1999 Mummy film. Another part is just the joy of seeing Faith Erin Hicks's artwork on such a large page—a rare treat!

Christopher Cantwell and Tyler Crook's Out of Alcatraz is visual poetry. Cantwell knows how to write for visuals, connecting themes and ideas to specific iconography that he can use later to say so much without a single word. Plus it shows so much trust in Crook.

Jesse Lonergan's Drome. Just in terms of panel layout alone, this book is a visual feast. A new panel can mean so much more than just "and then this thing happened", and Drome shows that again and again and again. Plus, you know, everything else is great too.

Let's start with the most obvious one anyone would expect from me, Mike Mignola's Bowling with Corpses & Other Strange Tales from Lands Unknown. Nearly 100 pages of Mike Mignola drawing whatever the hell he wants? How could I not absolutely adore this book?

Chaiko's adaptation of The Three Kingdoms looks fantastic. @magneticpress.bsky.social will be publishing it in English when further volumes have come out.

I'm also hoping @darkhorse.com will publish the Blacksad spinoff comic, Weekly. #comics #BD #BandeDessinée #Blacksad

I'm hoping Ablaze continues Animal Castle. Félix Delep's art in the latest volume is stunning! #comics #BD #BandeDessinée #LeChâteauDesAnimaux

I don't know if @23rdstbooks.bsky.social is planning on releasing the English edition of Lucas Wars: Episode II in 2026 or later, but I'm definitely looking forward to it.

I have Pacific Rim set as my alarm, so that automatically boosts #RaminDjawadi. (And I still love that soundtrack. Some days, I just want to lie in bed and keep listening.) That should give you some idea how much I listen to #NobuoUematsu and #Laufey.

Erica Slaughter's super power is that she cares. She cares even when every part of her world is trying to grind it out of her; when it would be so much easier not to care.

No matter how much everything fucks her up, she keeps going.

A big one recently was Faith Erin Hicks’s Inbetweens. (It’s not out till March, but I read the net galley.) It’s such an incredible book, in part because Hicks evokes the world the characters exist in, but also the world they project themselves into mentally while animating.

It made me realise that when I tell people about what endeared me to Mike Mignola’s work, what I was describing was haptic comics. The same with Cullen Bunn and Tyler Crook’s Harrow County. And Lucy Knisley’s Relish. And Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes.
