Orville Peck was absolutely sensational in his Broadway debut tonight. His Emcee in 'Cabaret' is wild, insane, and deeply, deeply unsettling. I cried a lot, not just bc of OP, but because it all feels so close to what's happening in the US now. As for OP... a bat outta hell.

1973 Smith-Corona Sterling, by god. Pristine. Full of vim, verve, and vigor. Galaxy Class, for heaven's sake.

Smith Corona Electra 210. Late 1960s.

Ever since I visited the Robert Caro exhibit at the NY Historical Society, I've been on the lookout for one of these. The 210 is synonymous with him.

Visited Mount Vernon today to view George Washington's inaugural suit jacket and tour the estate.

At the tomb of George & Martha, I spotted a man about my age wearing an Eagles hat. I threw him a cheeky "Go Birds." Quietly and respectfully, of course.

My diary turned 20 years old this year, and I turned 40. This year's volume came in at 153,853 words and 360 pages, written entirely on 19 typewriters.

1965 Sears Portable.

Actually, it's a Brother JP-1 in Sears clothing. It is mechanically identical to the Brother Activator 800T.

1967 Brother Activator 800T.
I have yet to encounter a Brother typewriter of any vintage that doesn't work. Very well made. This is my road trip typer. I take it on every vacation or overnight stay. Lightweight and snappy. Recently cleaned and adjusted by Karl Business Machines in Trenton, NJ.

199X IBM Personal Wheelwriter, the first nameplate given to the award-winning model 6781. It is one of the last models to be made in the United States. I purchased this for a song on Marketplace and had it cleaned and serviced by its original retailer, Karl Business Machines in Trenton, NJ.

1999 IBM Wheelwriter 1000 (model 6781). The last and best of the Wheelwriter series and one of the last truly great typewriters ever made.

Thankful for, among many other things, my typewriters.

Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow

A note inside tells me I finished this book for the first time on 10/13/7, 17 years and 1 month ago today. I was 23 and hooked. I've just finished rereading it for perhaps the twelfth time and it is still my favorite work of non-fiction. Absolutely sensational.
