One has to wonder whether the Libs - by following last week’s shenanigans in Canberra with the knifing of a leader in Melbourne today - is on a mission to destroy itself. I’ve never cared much for them, but Victoria demonstrates what happens when you have a terminally incompetent opposition.

Two of the biggest take outs from the Albo-Trump AUKUS/rare earth love-in: 1. Trump’s dementia was a factor as he seemingly forgot who Kevin Rudd was. 2. Albo’s snub of John Lyons was appalling. But I guess it’s a sign of the times that apparently the meeting went swimmingly well.

Sure, Trump deserves some credit for getting the living hostages home and for strong arming Netanyahu into agreeing to the terms of a glasshouse ceasefire, but claims of enduring peace are ludicrous when Hamas and Israel’s actions have guaranteed conflict in the region for generations.

Yes, Trump’s visit to the King nearly made me throw up in my mouth. Fair to say the whole thing was an expensive exercise entirely designed to serve his vanity and own wishes to be crowned. My guess is that the shallow creep is so easily bought, the UK’s ploy will work perfectly.

I commend the Australian Government for expelling the Iranian ambassador after a thorough investigation by ASIO into domestic antisemitic attacks. They should now get on with expelling the Israeli ambassador and sanctioning Israel for clearly evident war crimes in Gaza.

Yep, there was nothing in the Trump-Putin presser, but it was also one of the greatest diplomatic failures of a US administration we’ve ever seen. It only confirms Trump is owned and will always be owned by Putin. Where that leaves Ukraine is the more worrying question.

Despite the still tone deaf Australian opposition’s conniptions - the Shadow Attorney General’s current behaviour is not only intellectually and morally bankrupt, it’s embarrassing - recognition of a Palestinian state is not rewarding terrorism. Hamas is not Palestine.

Criminal allegations and a cabinet of fascists aside, Netanyahu had the goodwill of the world after 7 October, a goodwill to act decisively and forcefully. But after two years of bombing and starving civilians (and killing over 200 journalists reporting on it), that goodwill is squandered.

As if having a living testament to the ineptness of the electoral college in the Oval Office wasn’t enough, the absurd situation in Texas demands all legislators push for the establishment of an independent, federal-level electoral commission, like we have in Australia. Seriously: wake up America.

If Australians are looking for someone to blame for interest rates not going down, blame Trump. As with the Fed in the US, the RBA is only trying to manage inflationary pressures caused by the orange menace’s trade war. It’s unlikely you’ll read this in the corporate media.
