Unpopular opinion: I don’t like when semesters end. But I have to remember that it makes for semester beginnings, which I love.

Sometimes I get down on myself for being the oldest, slowest speed skater in my club, but then I remember I work 2 FT jobs and am a FT grad student and that I’m having fun, so who cares?

I joke that working is my happy place. I worked a 9-9 day today (not typical) & my resting heart rate was 50bpm. Working soothes me

Speedskating is a crazy sport where a 45 year old woman (me) races against a 20 year old & a 15 year old because we’re at the same experience level. I got lapped but I did get faster! Had Iots of fun too!

Omg! I’m so glad I’m a grad student so I can vote! The last one gets my vote 💯 #MakesomeIllinoise

Tonight in class I achieved the genX trifecta: a karate kid reference, a Magyver reference & an example of valley girl speak but I was outdone by a student wearing an original House Party jacket!

Can’t say enough about how responsive Rep. Nikki Budzinski’s office has been. I called because I’m her constituent. her office listened & told me all the things she & her office are doing to push back against the administration’s egregious efforts to date.

I’m watching the newest dateline & I guess my question over all is how many professional photos do women regularly take? Are they keeping the industry going…? I fear that when I’m on dateline they won’t have any good photos of me.

Breathe. Embrace your free time. Pour into your community. Respect what you can't control. Reject nihilism. Remember pace and perspective. Burnout is the enemy and helps no one, least of all yourself, and should be stridently avoided. That's the only way we're gonna get through this. And we will.

At the beginning of class tonight, I showed pictures of my dogs to the class. After class, I had a line of students waiting to show me photos of their pets. #illinois

After 19 years in the DMV, which I mostly enjoyed, living the past 6 years in the Midwest - it’s a joy to have a snow storm & everyone just carries on as usual. It also helps to have more funds & infrastructure to support it!

A wonderful woman on my flight from Chicago to Bradley was wearing amazing overalls (hers had foxes on them) we struck up a convo & she raved about them - they're from Duluth trading & were on wicked sale! So I bought a pair & I may never take them off!

So tell me - how many of your mothers have told you not to contact her after you ask her to go to therapy & she refuses, but then sends you mental health reels on the regular expecting you to reply?? Just mine? Very well..

I’m in love with Lashana Lynch - finally someone with my body type - representation matters & I feel more confident in my body as a result! Thank you!

My favorite thing about introducing people to hallmark Christmas movies is the phases they go thru:

Phase1: I don’t know if I want to watch this
Phase2: what is going on?
Phase3: so do you think they’ll get together?
