I started this drawing on the left, rather than with the house as I did the previous two times I drew this view. Which meant that as I got cold I rushed a different part of the drawing, and thus the right-hand half is "emptier". I really need to find my gloves!

Too windy to get this morning's drawing at its full length, even on video.

The paper doesn't flap about when I'm drawing because I've got it on my lap. Folding it into a concertina makes it easy to carry and lets me make it "smaller" as needed for the wind.

Smaller piece of paper today because of the wind, forecast 50mph gusts, which also why I sat on steps here with building blocking most of it.

As I started drawing this morning it began to drizzle and spread the ink, but fortunately it didn't last and the breeze dried my sheet of paper.

🤬 If only there were an invention that could prevent airborne virus transmission. 😷

Coma and Feeding Ghosts are other inspirations. (And your work, obviously.)

I recognise the cover of Tangles but haven't read it for some reason. I'll look for a copy, thanks for the reminder.

My desire is to create something as powerful as Lucy Sullivan's "Barking".

As Matt Haig's Truth Pixie tries to teach us:
"There will be people you love,
Who can't stay for ever,
And there will be things you can't fix,
Although you are clever".

(My soulmate stuck a copy of this on my wardrobe.)

Painting in progress, or maybe finished. Will ponder for a few days to decide if it truly needs anything more.

Was looking up something on Monet and ended up on National Gallery London website. 🙄🤢🤬

In the beginning ... translating my plein-air drawings onto a 50x50cm (20") panel using acrylic ink. Working from visual memory built by the various location drawings I did this week.

Didn't get the houses in today. 😁

Was out drawing here again today. New favourite spot. The sun went behind a cloud when I started doing the sea, before that it was much brighter (for northern latitude in November).

Not at all influenced by Joan Eardley's paintings of cottages peeking over the hillside 😁
Acrylic ink on wood panel.

A few details from the array of fabulous paintings produced by participants in my Higham Hall workshop last week. Ink, acrylics, collage, mixed media. There's such joy in helping people achieve dreamed-of results in their art.

If you were on my Higham Hall painting workshop, you'll know the significance of these three shapes and their potential. 🔺🔴🟥
I found these at Catterline beach where I stopped on my way home.

Higham Hall did its magic again last week. A rewarding painting workshop with an interesting group of women, bonding over a love of paint and art retreats. My thanks to everyone at Higham who together make it such a special place.
(Location: near Cockermouth in the English Lake District.)

I was telling someone about this map a few days ago. Scotland is the warm south of Scandinavia not the cold north of the UK.

Layers of history in green and grey paint. The courtyard door at Higham Hall (arts and crafts retreats in the English Lake District).

Anyone recognise the location? (If you're into her paintings you'll probably know.)
