Developing and testing the models demands a wealth of diverse data and a very dedicated team!

From tagging projects to stranding records, we gather critical information on animal movement, energetics, and population structure to inform and refine these models 🐬

Our researchers use a variety of models, including DEPONS (depons.eu), which simulates the effects of noise disturbance on harbor porpoises.

By simulating how noise impacts their movement and foraging success, DEPONS can assess the impacts of offshore wind farm construction and ship traffic. 🛥️🐬

Noise pollution isn’t just an inconvenience! 🔉🐬
it can disturb entire marine ecosystems.

Understanding how noise disturbance affects wildlife populations requires powerful models, lots of data and a dedicated team.
