This will have devastating impacts on the social infrastructure of American cities and towns, especially in rural communities where the library is often the only game in town.
SCOOP: DOGE notified the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences (IMLS) today that the entire staff is being put on administrative leave effective immediately, I’ve learned from an agency source.

They’ll be cancelling huge swaths of grants/contracts and starting a Reduction in Force (RIF).

I'm exploring The Book of Decorative Furniture (1910). Marie Antoinette's 1787 jewel cabinet is a masterpiece of Louis XVI design. Made of mahogany with gilt & painted plaques- Pompeian-classic influence. https://buff.ly/3ZMuieR #arthistory 📜 #NYPLDigitalCollections #libraries

Journey of Fragonard's 'Progress of Love': 4,500+ miles! Louveciennes (1771) ➡️ Paris Louvre (1773) ➡️ Grasse Villa Maubert (1790) ⛴️ London (£62,000 to JP Morgan!) ⛴️ NYC. After historic 14-canvas reunion #FrickMadison, now home #FrickCollection #ArtHistory 🎨 https://buff.ly/4fgQ4Mo.
Mapping Provenance: Fragonard's Progress of Love
As illustrated by the turbulent history of Fragonard’s Progress of Love series, the destiny of an artwork depends in large part on the taste and temperament of the client who commissioned it.

Here is an hour-long colonial kitchen scene from Outlander: a brick hearth glowing, an iron pot simmering, herbs drying overhead, and a wooden table laden with ingredients. A perfect ambient display for your library or home 🪑🫖🧺 youtu.be/7S8It-zl63s?...

Even the elevators are a delight ⚡ The building features a crown inspired by radio waves - a nod to its original tenant, RCA Victor.
