Last week, new WaPo opinion editor Adam O'Neal quietly carried out another purge of staffers, cutting editors and major names like Marc Fisher and David Hoffman, among others.

Meanwhile, he welcomed three conservatives to the section.

Are furloughed federal employees entitled to backpay?

The short answer is yes furloughed federal employees are entitled to backpay, but the mechanism a little complicated.

And, importantly, it means the House GOP CR is insufficient for reopening the govt & needs to be amended.

Thread explaining:
Scoop: White House memo says furloughed federal workers aren't entitled to backpay
A move to deny backpay to up to 750,000 furloughed workers would dramatically escalate Trump's pressure on Democrats to end the shutdown.

First, Republicans passed the largest health care cut in American history to fund the largest tax break for the rich in history.

Now, many families are getting letters telling them they'll pay an average of $1,000 a month more on their health insurance premiums.

Donald Trump giving a long, unhinged speech is nothing new.

But it's what he said – and who he said it to – that should concern every American regardless of whether they live in a red state or blue state.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik knew Jeffrey Epstein was a creep, and called him "the greatest blackmailer ever".

Even Trump's Cabinet isn't buying DOJ’s claim that the only one on Epstein’s list was Epstein, or the administration’s justification for refusing to release the Epstein Files.

In addition to their national defense duties, Americans rely on our National Guard to fight wildfires and respond to other natural disasters.

Donald Trump's weaponization of the Guard and deployments to American cities erodes that trust, and makes us less prepared when they are most needed.

Two-thirds have seen sales drop.

Remember that promise to lower prices on Day 1?

Americans cannot afford Donald Trump's economic policies.

These are the lowest cost insurance options for a 62 year old Georgian making $65k.

2025: $228
2026: $1142

She will lose $704/month in credits because of GOP cuts to health care.

This is a crisis. We cannot wait to fix this.

Attorney General Pam Bondi came before the Judiciary Committee today.

But she refused to answer a raft of important questions.

On Tom Homan's bribe.

On Donald Trump's new luxury plane.

On January 6th pardons.

On illegal strikes in the Caribbean.

On Epstein.

The stonewalling was staggering.

Kash Patel knew.

Emil Bove knew.

And they made the investigation go away.

A corrupt attempt to conceal brazen graft.

Sinclair didn't pull the broadcast of Kimmel's show. There wasn't a board meeting to make that decision.

One man--Trump-supporting billionaire David Smith, the defacto owner of Sinclair--made the decision to bar tens of millions from watching the show.

Billionaires are deciding what you can hear.
UPDATE: Sinclair is NOT going to broadcast Jimmy Kimmel, even though ABC is resuming production.

Sinclair has demanded that Kimmel personally donate to Turning Point USA, a right-wing political organization.

David Smith, executive chairman of Sinclair, donated 250K to Turning Point USA last year.

Sinclair CEO David Smith didn't reverse his decision out of a sense of responsibility, despite what the PR release says.

Kimmel's coming back for two reasons:

1. Local outrage, with some suggesting Sinclair should lose ownership of local outlets.

2. Simply money. Sinclair lost untold ad revenue.

Just a reminder that at the moment, the US is not at war with anyone.

Who is Hegseth telling the military to "intimidate, demoralize [and] hunt"?

And what of the hundreds of thousands of military members who serve in support or intelligence roles?

Hegseth doesn't understand military operations.
Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement."
