We have to remember of how much the party has moved left. In 2008, when Democrats shied away from being “liberal”, Obama definitely was one and challenged Hillary from the left!

Also Obama’s background and association (eg Bill Ayers) showed again how liberal he was
Obama was a phenomenon, sure. But in many ways people overstate how progressive he was. He just had very basic notions of appealing to America's higher ideals and calling out a broken system. The vibes of the thing were more important than the details

It being the Sound of Freedom crew finally crystallized for me why the movie looks so bad like even the Christian films of my youth with a shoestring budget had better songs and were better at storytelling

It’s like they put all money into visuals; nothing else
Oh my god the Mormons are making a Temu Pixar movie about David

Trying to delude myself into thinking that this isn’t bad bc Netflix will definitely do Teen Titans Season 6 and revive Young Justice for nostalgia

Also revive Sex Lives of College Girls bc they love Mindy Kailing

So if Talarico or Allred can’t beat Crockett one-on-one after vainly disregarding a coordination attempt then yes they weren’t good candidates (Same with Stevens and Mills)
1) TX does runoffs in primaries so no candidate could win the Democratic primary with only 30% of the vote

2)Talarico, Allred, Beto *and* Castro openly did a “elite conventional/mod Dem coordination summit” precisely to avoid this chaos and either Collin, James, or both just ignore the decision

It’s actually wild how many ppl bitching and moaning about the TX-Senate primary discourse don’t actually know anything about the race

I do not know if people understand how much the Reilly Act made this a one way ratchet. If we don’t repeal it the MOMENT we get into power in 2029, it will hang around our necks for a generation. And that will require votes from people who voted to pass it.
frankly every vote for the Laken Reilly Act, even if it's naive to believe Trump's DHS needed congressional sanction
Unless proven otherwise, every Republican in Congress supports this image:

Jeffries: "The border is secure. That's a good thing. It happened on his watch. He wants to claim credit for it, of course he'll get credit for that. In terms of making sure that we actually deal with the issues that matter, including on immigration, there's a lot that's left to be desired."

Tbf I think she is making a point more about social media and on that, she’s correct- social media’s ability to real-time document and preserve what’s happening means Israel’s violence, war crimes and apartheid can’t be belittle or downplay anymore by political leaders anymore.
Also apropos nothing else, public opinion was turning against Israel before TikTok went mainstream
December 4, 2025 at 7:51 AM
The way so many Democrats voted for it to appear “tough on the border” when it was utterly predictable that they weren’t ever going to get plaudits from the right for this and everyone else will become immigration doves due to Trump’s crackdown

Fuck Ossoff and Warnock for voting for this

Somali Minnesotans are teachers, nurses, neighbors - our friends. Trump's vile hate has no home here.

Bill Kristol again show more courage than 80 percent of congressional and media Dems- affective polarization remains undefeated
“If you believe the MAGA postliberal project is real, then liberalism must understand MAGA is not a reaction to economic consequences or “elite failures,” but an affirmative preference for illiberalism.

Liberalism must stop apologizing. Stop excusing. And fight.”

Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

A 15 pt swing- blue tsunami incoming????
The AP has called VA-07 for Matt Van Epps, the Republican nominee.

He is leading by 6% as the count winds down (93% reporting, but all of Nashville in, so his lead likely expands a bit more).

The GOP won the district by 22% in 2024; certainly enough of a swing to provoke cold sweats among GOPers.

It’s always so revealing when STEM or humanities professionals have no relationship with the other field bc it is so embarrassing how they often stereotype the other, showing an embarrassing lack of intellectual curiosity

I went to a STEM school but my fave courses were my humanities one
one of the reasons that the STEM-humanitiies culture war is stupid is that there's a lot of interesting stuff there at the intersection of the two. like it's very sociologically interesting the way that programming languages are maintained, propagated, and evolve.
