Honestly, I enjoy all of the lists.
Margot reading Joanna Russ’s “everyday depressions” in Extra (Ordinary) People at the beach. Text reads: but Oh Susannah, what wishest thou? Marxism-Leninism? Too doctrinaire. Women's Studies? Too respectable. Lesbian separatism? Too unrealistic. The 'women's community? Too incestuous. Anti-racism? Too narrow. Cultural anarchism? Too crazy. Gay liberation? Too many realtors. Doing nothing? Too bourgeois. Marxist-Leninist academic lesbian feminist socialist culturally anarchistic separatist anti-racist revolutionaries? Too few. Other lists I enjoy: croissants, pain au chocolat, brioches (with or without raisins), madeleines, even whole. wheat bread ("pain complet") in our new, local, wonderful French bakery. Cha-Shu-Bow (transcendental steamed buns with barbecued pork inside) ditto, a new Chinese deli, likewise. I tell myself about these whenever I decide to emigrate to Mars.
