A seagull sits on their front porch railing and yells at them. There's a note at its feet. They look at each other and then back at the note. They both know what it says. They both, at once, think that if they don't open it, the words inside won't be true. Stede sighs and starts walking forward. Ed catches him by the hand and yanks him back. "Do you think if we ignore it, they won't show up?" Stede gives him a resigned smile. "No." Ed groans. "Fine," he lets go of Stede's hand. "Go open it." Stede unravels the scroll and clears his throat. "Dear Former Captains Blackbeard and Bonnet," Stede reads. He purses his lips. "What?" "Why are you first?" Ed rolls his eyes. "Keep reading."

Stede is having trouble containing some of his... baser instincts. And isn't that just the story of his life? Too much of everything too fast. Too much freedom and you'll wander off and become a vampire - someone should have told him. It should be something they warn you about, like how too much masturbation can make you go blind. But lord knows he hadn't listened to that warning either. So, here he stands. All but ear up to the bathroom door as Ed goes about his business. God! No one told him that with vampirism also comes sexual perversion, either, they really didn't. He doesn't know if this is the ush, so to speak, for vampires. This... odd sort of longing. But there is an unmistakable thrumming in Stede's empty veins that reminds him of the feeling he used to get with his nose in a dirty book, back when he was young. Over Ed having a regular old pee! Certainly he could save some of this energy for something more classically enticing.

Chapter 2: love comes hungry Ed wakes up nauseous. This is a recurring theme of his days. He wakes up, pukes, goes back to bed, wakes up, is so nauseous he feels like he did his first year on a ship, goes back to bed, is pried from bed by Stede, who feeds him mush (all Ed can stomach is fucking mush these days), and then sends him back to bed. Stede will sit next to him and read to him. He'll stroke long and hard along his back so there's a point of pressure somewhere other than his stomach or his head, and whisper to him that he loves him and that one day, when the baby is here, all of the pain will have been worth it. Ed reaches back and tries to jab Stede in the stomach a bunch of times so that he can ponder if the pain is "worth it". Stede curls up behind him tighter and kisses his shoulder and says that he forgives Ed for trying to cause him bodily harm.

Stede smiles at him, reaches up to push a strand of hair behind his ear. "Maybe you need some water." "M'fine. I wanna... Why aren't we dancing?" Stede blinks. "There's no music playing." "Could still," Ed says, mouth moving slower than his thoughts. "C'mon." He tugs Stede into the middle of the deck and drapes his arms over his shoulders. They rock back and forth. It feels like they're in their own little world. Ed can hear the music that should be playing. The crew chatters elsewhere. "Happy, hm?" "Whuh?" "You said you feel happy." "Yeah," Ed says, shrugging. The pages were maybe stuck together a little. Ed had delighted in the fact that Stede Bonnet, Gentleman Pirate, had masturbatory fantasies that got him off so hard he couldn't hold back enough to come in one of his little hankies instead of on the pages of a book. He had cheerfully flipped through the rest of the book and found similar evidence on stories about the following: the stern dean of a college giving one of his students a spanking for not turning in their homework on time (ooh, Professor Bonnet), extraterrestrial beings coming to Earth and giving an unsuspecting man a probing (to be looked into further at a later date, maybe with antennae on), and one about a naval captain ravishing Thee Best Pyrate On The Seven Seas (on the nose). The illustration accompanying the last bore a strange resemblance to Ed himself. (The thought of Stede jerking off to a picture of Ed before they had even met had Ed so randy that he had also not been able to hold back enough to come in a non-book place.) All of this to say: Ed is swiftly understanding that Stede is getting off on Ed being stuck. And that's cool, they can play with that. Just... maybe on a later date when Ed is not in imminent danger of getting driven through with a stake.

i wrote a fic for stuck in the wall day im really excited to share when the day comes around………..
It's not really sexy, ultimately. Ed has read stories about it, written no doubt by people who have never had the displeasure of being stuck in a wall. Carefully woven tales of what would happen if, say, one was fixing a wall in a little house on the beach, very early on in one's first serious relationship, and one happened to fall through the wall and then be stumbled upon by one's boyfriend and fucked senseless into the hole. Ed has not gotten to the stumbled upon and fucked part. What he has gotten is several splinters and bruises and a face full of sea air, as well as the threat of being stabbed in the side with broken wood if he were to wiggle back out. "Stede?" Ed calls.
