That's so cool. I read about these Dark-eyed Junco x White-throated Sparrow hybrids a little while back and I've been wanting to hear their hybrid song ever since

BEHAVIOR AND PARENTAGE OF A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW X DARK-EYED JUNCO HYBRID ROBIN E. JUNG.' EUGENE S. MORTON, AND ROBERT C. FLEISCHER ABSTRACT.-A hybrid White-throated Sparrow (Zonotrichia albicollis) X Dark-eyed Jun- co (Junco hyenalis) was captured in Oct. 1991 in Potomac, Maryland, and studied in cap- tivity until July 1992. The hybrid sang a mixed song composed of a junco trill followed by sparrow "peabody" notes. Another song included 30 notes, with only two recognizable as sparrow and six as junco notes. The hybrid responded most actively to playbacks of its own song, similarly to songs of a junco and a sparrow, and least to a Wood Thrush (Hylocichla mustelina) song. When the hybrid was presented with same-sex, sparrow-junco pairs, the hybrid showed no difference in behavior toward the males, but spent significantly more time, and flew, hopped, called, and preened more on the side with the female sparrows than with the female juncos. Wilson (1832) gives the following graphic account of a large winter- ing flock: A few miles from the banks of the Roanoke, on the 20th of January, I met with one of these prodigious armies of Grackles. They rose from the surrounding fields with a noise like thunder, and, descending on the length of road before me, covered it and the fences completely with black; and when they again rose, and, after a few evolutions, descended on the skirts of the high timbered woods, at that time destitute of leaves, they produced a most singular and striking effect; the whole trees for a considerable extent, from the top to the lowest branches, seeming as if hung in mourning; their notes and screaming the meanwhile resembling the distant sound of a great cataract, but in more musical cadence, swelling and dying away on the ear, according to the fluctuation of the breeze. Charles R. Keyes (1888) describes the great blackbird flights at Burlington, Iowa, as follows: During September and October the cornfields of Iowa are visited by countless numbers of these black marauders, which wander about in mixed flocks of several thousands, passing the day in the fields and the night in woodland or marshes. And it is during this period that so many thousands are poisoned and killed by the farmers. About the first of October the birds begin * * * to rise out of the swamps and radiate in all directions towards the inland cornfields, where they spend the day, returning again to the swamps before sunset. These flocks are often a quarter of a mile in width and are more than an hour in passing-a great black band slowly writhing like some mighty serpent across the heavens in either direction, its extremities lost to view in the dim and distant horizon. Not unfrequently, three or four such vast flocks are in sight at one time. How far away from their night resorts they go each day has not been observed; an hour and a half before sunset, twelve miles away from the river, the mighty armies of Blackbirds are still seen coming over the distant hills and directing their course toward the marshes. It is evident, however, that many miles are daily traversed in their journeys to and from the feeding grounds. Making liberal deductions for any possibility of over estimating, the numerical minimum of individuals in a single flock cannot be far from twenty millions. Referring to Manitoba, Seton (1891) writes: "April 15, 1882: Snow still deep everywhere, but melting fast. In the poplars along the slough side to-day was, a large flock of Rusty Grackles. ** "April 21: The thousands of Grackles have been increased to tens of thousands. They blacken the fields and cloud the air. The bare trees on which they alight are foliated by them. Their incessant jingling songs drown the music of the Meadow Larks and produce a dreamy, far-away effect, as of myriads of distant sleigh bells. Mixed with the flocks of Rusty Grackles now are a few Red-winged Black- birds."
