Used to write about baseball at USS Mariner (mostly), Baseball Prospectus (rarely), and probably a few places I’ve forgotten. Love music, Seattle sports, cooking.

There was some call back to Devereaux when Brandon Nimmo came up, as I think Devereaux was the only Wyoming native to regularly play CF. And then Nimmo didn’t play a ton of CF…

Mike Devereaux?

Pretty sure I know that big Madrona. Hope you had some good walks up here!

Was just going to say that the kebab shops I remember were Kurdish, and I remember talking about that with proprietors in my extremely rough Norwegian. I had my first doner in Oslo, in Lillestrøm, in Bergen, and many others, *also* in 1997. (The dressing was very good, as I recall)

It’s been many decades, but I’ve still not had better kebabs than I had in Norway. Maybe they were just new to me, but there was something great about the bread. Yes, I’ve been to Berlin. I like those too.

And to extend that metaphor, the Blue Jays only got an invite by beating up on an NAIA team in Idaho. It’s weird.

Just wanted to say the original came on in a Thai restaurant I was in the other day and it was the most random mix of things I had ever heard, and I had to live tweet it in my group chat. You start off with “Car” and then a deep cut by Sly and the Family Stone and you HAVE my attention.

Still remember having to cross country ski home from after school care, as the hills made it impossible to drive. I can’t recall how I would’ve skied UP one of those north Tacoma hills. Dad probably had to tow me.

This isnt the same one, but loved this barrow right by a road, and very close to a stone circle.
November 20, 2025 at 4:48 AM
Whoa, I have been to that barrow. They are everywhere down there, but I know that one. Now I’m mad I didn’t get a tabby guide. Cornwall is pretty magical.

I think it helped that he played with and in the same system as McPherson. “Wood’s K rate is worrying? Aren’t you thinking of McPherson?” Lots of guys this could apply to back then as well: Drew Stubbs, Wlad Balentien, etc.

The 2005 Rancho Cucamonga team that launched a billion forum posts. Howie Kendrick, Brandon Wood AND Dallas McPherson? And Kendrys Morales? And Jered Weaver?!

Man, me too. I railed at the trade of Shin-Soo Choo to Cleveland after I’d watched him tons in AAA.

Oh, you “have failed at my job” or “know what it’s like to work under pressure.” No you don’t. That isn’t true.
Patrick has. Patrick knows failure the way you know your child’s dietary preferences, your spouses driving habits. He detailed every facet of it. George Plimpton has been throughly bested

“Value,”or “outstanding,” is not defined in the rule book. We just saw a suburban dad complete a full season in MLB while turning in clean, philosophically-intriguing text. We’ve heard a lot about two-way players recently, but this was unprecedented. I voted for him. Let’s go to listener calls…

I am over a decade older. I think this is fabulous. Like anyone, I think I look like hell sometimes and that I am really showing my age. Then I look at this guy, or Bove, or Miller, etc. and I think I’m doing alright. Don’t be or abet autocrats! It’s easier than diet and lifestyle changes!

The late, great Aethelred.
Died in 2021. We had him 19 years and got him as an adult rescue, so he lived a long long time. What a guy.

This is the right answer, or at least, this is also my answer.

I’m getting mad again just remembering it…

It was at that moment I had to stop caring about MVP voting. It remains a bit annoying that none of this makes sense to younger fans who look at Junior’s WAR and think it was a good, numbers-informed vote. It wasn’t. It relies on an old defensive model giving him an all-time defensive rating.
